Dunedin City via rail

Friday Jan 15:

Down the road to Middlemarch, and the girls catch the train to Dunedin via the Taieri  Gorge Railway. I drive the Volvo to Dunedin, and check into the motel, and have a nice satay noodle soup for lunch on the main downtown street. Also booked tours for tomorrow to see albatrosses and penguins. The train station is a Victorian masterpiece, from the day when this town was the main route for gold from Otago.

I meet the girls at the train, and we run straight down the block to catch the last Cadbury’s chocolate factory tour of the day! Then to the motel, and a great school playground for an hour or so.

Claire and Eleanor played circus performers, and put on a show for the big people.
