Day 3
More gravel in the morning Maruia Saddle road, then paved to Springs Junction (except another 15k gravel). Up the road to Reefton at 3pm, lunch and stock up on food for the Big River track and Waiuta track. Entered Big River Track about 5 pm, made it to the Big River Hut about 8:30pm—perhaps 3K per hour. Mostly walking for me. Decided to camp for the night at the hut, and tackle Waiuta Track next morning. Good decision. Too tired for any pics today apparently.
